JT Tiny Home

Fire pit / pet friendly / views / off grid / hammock

Reconnect at this one-of-a-kind off-grid escape. This thoughtfully converted shipping container is designed for guests who want to slow down, unplug a bit & spend real time outdoors. Set on 5 acres of Joshua Tree filled desert, it feels remote & quiet while still being just 7 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree.

Come solo or with your partner or some friends & settle in for evenings around the fire pit under truly dark nights skies. This is a simple stay that leans into the desert experience.

Good to Know

This is an 8' x 30' x 10' shipping container (240 square feet) converted into an off-grid tiny home. There is a large outdoor patio, with three stairs leading to the front and side doors. The container sits on 5 acres of partially fenced desert.

Inside, the main room includes a sofa bed, stove, fridge, sink, kitchen counter, and a mini split HVAC unit. There is one bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, plus a separate bedroom with a California king-size bed that fills the space, along with a small cabinet wardrobe. Upper windows in the bedroom let you fall asleep under the stars on clear nights, and yes, the stars really are worth the hype.

Outside, you’ll find a wicker outdoor couch with cushions and a wooden bench that converts into a picnic table, all centered around a propane fire pit. S’mores supplies are provided.

Farther from the container, there’s a hammock and a stock tank that can be filled with hose water for cooling off. There is no hot water option for the stock tank.

The tiny home runs on solar power during the day with battery storage at night and is designed to balance off-grid living with a few modern comforts. Power is limited and meant to be used mindfully, so this stay may not be the best fit for guests expecting unlimited electricity or a fully traditional home setup. For those who enjoy a quieter, unplugged experience and spending more time outside than in, this is part of the charm.

The home is connected to city water, propane, and a septic system. Tap water is safe to drink, and a Brita filter is provided in the fridge.

Expect quiet sunsets, peaceful sunrises, incredible stargazing, and easy access to both Joshua Tree town and the national park.
